Background:

Mr. Zhongliang (Frank) Chen joined CNIE as a visiting researcher for 12 months, he is a PhD student from the College of Petroleum Engineering, China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUPB). Before he came to CNIE, he studied at Prof. Zhangxing (John) Chen's research group in China University of Petroleum-Beijing. His current research interest is taking benefit of the unexpected fluid transport behavior occurring at nanoscale to propose new routes for enhancing oil and gas recovery in unconventional reservoirs.

Research Areas:

  • Combining experiments, theory, and molecular simulations to explore the intimate mechanisms of the dynamics of micro-fluidics and nano- fluidics.
  • Investigations on the effect of nano-confinement on pressure/volume/temperature properties of hydrocarbons in unconventional reservoirs.
