Asterios Gavriilidis has long standing expertise on catalytic reaction engineering. Areas of current interest include the application of micro reaction technology for generation of kinetic information, multifunctional reactors for process intensification and microfluidic processes for separation operations.
His group has worked on the design, development and evaluation of high temperature gas phase and low temperature multiphase microstructured reactors, using in addition to experimental approaches various modelling tools, such as CFD simulations. The reactors have been used to perform various types of reactions including catalytic oxidations, hydrogenations, epoxidations, ozonolysis etc.
He is reaction engineering editor of Chem. Eng. Res. Des., a member of the UK Catalysis Hub and the IChemE Applied Catalysis Subject Group.
