Update: The talk is now available to be viewed online here:

Our CNIE Director, Marc-Olivier, is honoured to have been asked to give a talk for BP-ICAM entitled Nature-Inspired Engineering of Multifunctional Materials on Thursday 25th June at 3pm by Webinar.

Scheduled as the very first talk in their 2020 series, BP's International Centre for Advanced Materials webinars are an annual programme of online talks given by leading academics in the field of advanced materials.

You can register for the talk here on Eventbrite, and read the abstract below:

Solving persistent engineering challenges related to energy, water, environment, health and manufacturing requires a transformative approach. We turn to nature for inspiration, because nature provides us with examples of solutions, perfected over the eons, to similar challenges as those we encounter in technology, such as scalability, efficiency and resilience. Marc-Olivier will discuss the systematic, Nature-Inspired Solutions for Engineering (NISE) methodology, applied at UCL’s Centre for Nature-Inspired Engineering, as a pathway to innovation and sustainable development. In the talk, he will provide examples related to the design and development of multifunctional materials for applications from catalysis to membranes, therapeutics, and coatings for space technology and the built environment.
